This course will support staff working as buddies to provide an excellent induction to new staff, improve the experience of the person receiving services and meet industry standards.
Part 1: e-learning
Duration – 30 minutes (self-paced)
- Understand the role and responsibility of staff who are buddies
* You will receive the e-learning invite prior to the workshop training. This must be completed to receive the Zoom link for the Live Training.
Part 2: live facilitated workshop via Zoom
Duration – 1 hour
Strategies for helping new staff to:
- Understand their scope of practice and role boundaries
- Be aware of health and safety risks to keep themselves and others safe
- Be familiar with policies and procedures to meet organisational requirements
- Know how to use a person’s support plan to meet their needs and preferences
- Complete the required documentation
Discussion and tips to:
- Build rapport with new staff
- Demonstrate/model good practice
- Use a team approach
- Encourage new staff
- Provide feedback in a positive way
