AUDIENCE:

Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP) staff and volunteers in direct care roles, care workers in residential and community care settings and anyone interested in gaining a First Aid qualification

LOCATION:

This course follows a blended learning approach where participants will complete online theoretical learning (approx 2-hours) before attending a 1-hour virtual session 

Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) delivers the knowledge and skills necessary to maintain breathing and circulation in an adult, child or infant following cardiac arrest or other emergency.

 Content:

  • Legal and other requirements
  • Basic life support – DRSABCD
  • Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) steps
  • Demonstration and use of a defibrillator (AED)
  • Debriefing/welfare

 Learning Outcomes:

On successful completion of this course, participants will receive the nationally recognised statement of attainment for HLTAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation

 Learning Methods:

Please note it is a requirement of this course that practical demonstration of CPR must be performed on the adult manikin on the floor.

 

There is a maximum of 12 participants on each of the virtual classrooms to provide opportunities for more individual attention through smaller learning groups.

 

A manikin kit is used during the virtual session with the trainer to demonstrate CPR.
